QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q How much can I borrow?
A Any amount from £1,000 to £500,000 depending on how much you can afford to repay each month.
Q Is my application confidential?
A YES - all applications are treated in the strictest confidence. Portfield do not contact your bank or employer without your permission.
Q For what purpose can a loan be used for?
A There is no restriction on the loan purpose, you may spend it on anything you wish. Whether it be a car, holiday, home improvements or to pay off your existing commitments, we can offer a package tailor made to suit you.
Q Can I settle my loan early and if so what are the penalties?
A You can settle your loan at any time and will receive a rebate against future interest in accordance with the Consumer Credit Act (some lenders we deal with offer settlement figures lower then the regulations require).
Q What happens if I am ill, have an accident or am made redundant?
A For a small extra charge your loan can be insured against Accident, Sickness and Unemployment. We always recommend that you consider taking out this optional cover for that extra peace of mind.
Q Can I pay more than the agreed monthly instalment?
A YES - and it will also reduce your interest because with most of our lenders you are only charged interest on the amount you owe.
Q What if I want to borrow more money at a later date?
A You can have a top up on your existing loan often after only one payment has been made, providing the amount you require is in keeping with the criteria of the finance company.
Q What if I want to move house?
A All you need to do is pay the loan off with the proceeds of the sale of your house. In some circumstances the loan may be transferred to your new house (please ask for details)
